Our Group
We are group of six from work that is Me, Larsen, Lee Van, Jim, Marife and Melissa plus our friend Jay. We met also other group from our work who are in Puerto G also.
Travel to Puerto
We met at the bus station in Buendia Ave neat Taft Avenue at about 4:30 A.M. The bus goes straight to Batangas Pier. We left about 4:45 A.M. and arrive at about 6:45 A.M. at the pier on time for the first trip of Brian Shipping Lines at 7:15 A.M.
Our boat arrived at White Beach, Puerto Galera at about 9:30 A.M. and proceeded to our accommodation.
Our transpo expense : Php 300 for two-way Bus, Php 360 two way Boat ride, plus PhP 60 tax.
Accommodation
Our accommodation is at Paul’s Bar along beachfront of White Beach.
We got 40% discounts for two nights. Courtesy of Jay whose Paul’s Bar is owned by his relatives. I stayed only one night due to a commitment.
TIP : Booked your hotel or resort in advance or contact Jay for special discount thru me.. Too many vacationers fill up the rooms along the beachfront. You may end up farther out where the action is.
Food
Our lunch is at Paul’s Bar that served fresh and delicious native food. For breakfast, we eat bread and canned goods while at dinner, we cooked our rice and own food.
Activities :
There as so many things to do in Puerto. You can dive at about 30 fabulous dive sites or just swim at the beach or snorkel just nearby the White Beach or kayak the sea or river, play golf on a challenging 9-hole golf course, hike the neaby mountains and the jungle, visit the native Mangayan village, go to the cock fights on Sundays, make a trip by outrigger boat to other beaches or a jeepney trip to the Tamaraw Waterfalls, go fishing, and enjoy the night life with many beautiful girls.
You can choose to do absolutely nothing at all. You can simply gaze at the waves gently lapping the beach and let the breeze blow through your hair.Lounge in the soothing sea water.
Just lean back and sip a cool, refreshing tropical drink served by beachfront bars on the terrace or the beach
However, my interest is snorkeling – watching beautiful and fish colorful swimming around corals and watching beautiful bikini girls.
Last year 2007, we went by boat to coral area where there are so many different fish. We also went to an island and enjoyed the beach, sun and sand with privacy. This time I did not go boating for some reason.
However I discovered that on the far left end of the beach is quite good for snorkeling with so many variety of fish as well. I was afraid only that rip tide might bring me out to the sea. Fortunately, there was none maybe that time of year.
At 11 AM, the sun is searing hot but water is as cold as an airconditioned room. So we have fun swimming and snorkeling.
We snorkeled in the morning and afternoon on the first day. On the morning of the second day, we went away from the crowd and went to the farthest end of the beach. There we found the great snorkeling area without taking a boat.
Me and Lee Van met two ladies snorkeling, Katherine and Vicky. We, foursome, went farther out to snorkel. Kat got her underwater camera and took some shots of us underwater.
Accident / Injury
We were snorkeling further out and the waves are becoming high. We decided to go back to beach thru rocky shore. Unfortunately the rocks have sharp edges and fossilized shells that cut the skin of Kat and Vicky. I felt some guilt.. Anyway the cuts are not life threatening at all.
Day before, I was bitten by maybe gelly fish and it was painful. Later it was itchy and I got the rashes for almost a week.
Night Life
At about 6 PM, we drank San Miguel Pale served by Cyndi, the promo girl. She is third college, taking up Tourism at Laco. She is on summer vacation and lives in Puerto Galera.
At about 8 PM, we prepared and took our dinner.
I brought along all the mixes for an original concoction of the famous Mindoro Sling. They say if you haven’t tasted it, you haven’t been to Puerto Galera. This Mindoro Sling was concocted originally by Mikko’s Bar using Rhum, Grenadine, Sprite, and Nectar of Mango and Orange, with slices of apples.
So after dinner we prepared and downed two pitchers of Mindoro Sling. My group enjoyed the mix. We were not tipsy at all in the end.
On the following day, after our lunch at Paul’s bar, we tried a pitcher of Mindoro Sling. We find our concoction much better. Our mix was not dry but sweet. If you don’t know how to prepare it , shoot me an email.
We drank San Mig Beer and Chocolate Mudslide again along the beach until 1 AM.
