15th PHILIPPINE INTERNATIONAL HOT AIR BALOON FIESTA
Clark Air Base, Pampanga

A Weekend of Everything That Flies

CS Manila made this an event for all interested CSers and I was among them. The organizer was Mai Gallego with some assistance from Gail Quiban. We were about 30 CSers who confirmed. I was happy since my wife, daughter and grandson joined me.

The schedule was to leave Manila at about 2 AM Saturday and be there before 5:30 AM. I am supposed to meet them at the Clark since I got my own ride.

Unfortunately or fortunately, I had some beers with my officemates at Tiannamen Square, Makati Avenue , the night before and I was not able to prepare my things. So, in short, I woke up 2:30 AM, took a bath, prepared things and we left at about 4:30 AM. Again, unfortunately, there was unusual traffic in EDSA, toll entrance, dau exit and from Clark entrance to the site.  We arrived 7:30 AM and did not bother to call the guys, CSers. Besides my family was with me.

At least , we saw the 22 balloons’ flight from Dau exit and somehow my wife and daughter were satisfied.

We had good time with all the other air shows, paragliding,  skydiving, private planes acrobat, helicopters, kite flying exhibitions. There are so many things to do for picture sakes. Have pictures with airplanes, tanks, armalites, machine gun, glider, Ducati motor cycles, hot air balloons,

My grandson, Hunter Josh, kept on walking and running and enjoying the show and good weather.

We left 2:00 PM and did not witness other shows, return of balloons and night fireworks. We had our snack of halo-halo and palabok at the famous Razons along the NLEX.

Surely, this occassion is a great bonding activity for families, friends and love ones.

SOME TIPS :

1.        Next year arrived earlier than 5:00 AM for good parking place and to witness the hot air blowing of the balloons. To avoid also heavy traffic inside Clark.
2.        Bring your snacks, water and foods, if you are family group. If BFF, buy food inside to impress. There were Jollibee, McDo, KFC, etc.
3.        Bring tent so you can relax while waiting for the next show or bring your own seats or picnic mats.
4.        Bring umbrella in case of hot weather or rain.
5.        Buy your tickets in Manila. There was long line of ticket buyers at the site.
6.        Bring cameras. Lots of subjects to shoot.
